General Judging Criteria (all phases)

  • Innovative business concept
  • Sound financial statements
  • Protection of your concept
  • Environmentally sustainable
  • Overall attractiveness to stimulate the interest of potential investor

Specific Judging Criteria (for each phase)

PHASE 1: PRELIMINARY ROUND

  1. Register by February 19, 2010.
  2. Completed business concept plan must be submitted by March 5, 2010.

A panel of judges shall be appointed. Judging process based on judging criteria identified above.

PHASE 2: VIDEO ELEVATOR PITCH - Due by March 26, 2010

  • Top six competitors/teams from each age category will be invited to upload their video elevator pitch presentation to the Business Concepts & Elevator Pitch group YouTube site.
  • Each team is allowed 60 to 90 seconds for their video elevator pitch.
  • Each team is required to submit their elevator pitch video link for upload by March 26, 2010.

Judging process will be based on the elevator pitch, business concept plan and YouTube voting.

  1. Business Concept Plan – 40%
  2. Elevator Pitch - 40%
  3. YouTube voting (most views) – 20%

PHASE 3: YEP BUSINESS FAIR & COMPETITION – April 15, 2010, 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Shasta College Theatre in Redding.

Final six teams (three from each category) to present a 3 to 5 minute presentation of their business concept. The judging process is identified below:

      1. Presentation of business concept - 75%

  • Innovative business concept
  • Sound financial statements
  • Protection of your concept
  • Environmentally sustainable
  • Overall attractiveness to stimulate the interest of potential investor

     2.  Live audience text voting – 25%

  • 14 – 18 year old
  • 19 – 27 year old
